The Comets defense doggedly guarded its goal line throughout the afternoon but the entire team added

Stunning

It was the headline on the Green & White page of the Lansing State Journal Sunday morning, but it was the Red & White that deserved similar accolades.

The headline on OC Comet Sports says it all "Football team stuns Hope behind 2 touchdown passes late in game."

Late in game was the name of the day for college football, as yes, the Green and White won its classic rival matchup against Michigan, 27-23 with just 10 second left on the clock.

In Olivet, it was the second half that breathed life into the Comets, who went into the locker room at halftime 14-13. But that score was not indicative of Olivet's play - it was not up to par, not up to the 5-0 MIAA team.

But the second half saw the Comets match any play Hope threw its way. And as it has been throughout the season, freshmen and sophomore joined senior standouts in contributing to the win.

Freshman Jaquan Short, "Shortie" to his friends, intercepted a Dutchman throw in the end zone to turn the game around. Senior Kyle Bryson sealed the deal with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion.

A windy but sunny fall football day ended with both teams meeting on the field, giving and receiving heart-felt congratulations and support.

The 6-0 Comets meet in Kalamazoo next Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
