2016 Homecoming


Homecoming has a 70s theme

This year’s Homecoming will be celebrated Oct. 6 through Oct. 8, with the main event, football, honors, and Homecoming Court taking place Saturday, Oct. 8.

The theme this year is “The Rockin’ 70s.” Events involve students, staff, alumni and community alike.

Organizations on campus are welcome to pick up a banner for decorating on Friday, Sept. 30 in the Student Life Office. Banners will be displayed on Thursday, Oct. 6 at the Celebration in the Square.

Midnight Breakfast, an evening of food, games and activities, is Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the Kirk Center, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. This is one of the most well attended student activities during the academic year.

The Thursday, Oct. 6 Celebration in the Square begins at 5:30 and runs through 7 p.m. and includes Family Feud with faculty, staff and students at 6:15 p.m., a student parade at 7 p.m., the banner competition, and a pep rally and bonfire from 7:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 7 is Spirit Day, and people are asked to wear red. The weekend also includes an Alumni Art Exhibit, the Kappa Sig Golf Outing, open hours in the Burrage Library Archives, class meetings and meals, a career awareness event, a women’s soccer game, awards ceremonies, a Phi Alpha Ribbon cutting, the Kappa Sig House Dedication, a music concert, alumni sporting events, women’s volleyball, a tailgate party at the Lamplighter OC, a music alumni reunion, a men’s soccer game, and the Comet football game, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Cutler Athletic Complex, against Kalamazoo College. The evening ends with an alumni social and concert at the OC Lamplighter from 6 p.m., featuring the Kathy Ford ’86 Band.
