The Ollies are Back to Spotlight 2018 Athletics

The Olivet College Ollies awards are back for the sixth year on Sunday, Feb. 17.

The Olivet College Ollies are like the ESPYs. Each year, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) puts on the award show for MIAA sports teams at the Cutler Event Center. The doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the award show starting at 7 p.m.

The event is open to all. Awards include Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Team of the Year, and Most Improved Team. There is even an award for Staff Member of the Year.

Nicole Deweyert, a junior golfer for Olivet, said that the Ollies were, “Important because it allows other sports teams to support great achievements among the student body at Olivet.”

Crystal Lettinga, sophomore and Ollies chairperson said, “I’m thrilled for the Ollies to come. Can’t wait to see all the students get together for a night of awards and interaction with each other to bond over athletic achievements.”
