David W. Jacobsen is a singer / songwriter from the New York Metro area. He has been making music for more than twenty years and added onto his musical collection. A Tree Falls is his latest album release, which was released on Dec. 3, 2024.

Jacobsen has been playing music since high school. That's where his passion for it began and it has kept growing throughout the years. “I'm still putting it out there to see if anybody else would enjoy it too,” Jacobsen said. He also studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

A Tree Falls is made up of seven songs all with the theme of rejection whether it be by friends, family, a job, romantic partner or even rejection on the daily. "If a tree falls in a forest ... does anyone give a @$#!?," said http://davidwj.com. The total run time of the album is 32 minutes and 59 seconds.

The third song on the album February 30th is about romantic rejection. The song states that the love interest will meet him on February 30, which sounds normal but it’s never a day that actually occurs. “One shouldn't fear rejection,” Jacobsen said.

The fifth song on the album Don't You Call Us is about rejection from a job interview and how they will call you with any updates so you shouldn't call them. Featuring in the song is a call from the job if you are not the right fit for them.

According to the Regis University Highlander, rejection is “something we can’t escape, and something we hate to confront.”

His music isn't like anything you would hear on the radio but it is in the realm of singer / songwriter because he writes and performs his own music. “If you can't put something in a box you can easily market it,” Jacobsen said.

The songs are very unique, with a mix of different acoustic sounds like piano and guitar and different sound effects. “People generally don't like things that are different, they like things they are used to.”

Jacobsen said. Jacobsen is currently working on his next album. He tries to release one every year. “I create what I want to create,” Jacobsen said.

Jacobsen’s next live event is May 13, 2025, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at Silvana, 300 W. 116th St. New York, New York, 10026. To listen to his music follow these links: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Youtube.
