Olivet's Block House is a casual dining and bar establishment which is located at 714 S. Main St., Olivet, MI 49076. Block House caters to the Olivet community and visitors.
The Block House is different from The University of Olivet’s food options because of its arena-style competitive and recreational gaming space.
According to Ryan Shockey, vice president and chief of staff at The University of Olivet, “Block House attracts lots of visitors throughout the region including students on campus, making Olivet a destination for entertainment and bringing vibrancy to the local community.”
Both Gamers and non-gamers enjoy the unique atmosphere. According to The University of Olivet’s website, “Sections of the space are dedicated to the dining-only crowd, different gameplay types and spectators such as console gaming, high-end gaming PCs, streaming stations, VR, a professional competition stage, and production equipment thinking switcher.”
The competitive gaming space is arena-style to display a gamer’s talent, just like any other sport. The high-level gaming systems support competitive and recreational esports, including racing simulators, console gaming, high-end gaming PCs, streaming stations, VR, a professional competition stage, and production equipment thinking switcher.
“The menu is globally inspired cuisine from three continents, the Americas, Asia, and Europe, referencing the continental servers that often group gamers together,” according to Olivet’s website. In their menu, the price varies, however it does not reach over $20.
A Freshman at The University of Olivet, Amani Russ, said, “The Block House is very unique as it has some of the best food options here on campus.”
