For several members of both the men’s and women’s Swim and Dive team, they are on their third, and in some cases fourth, head coach from their time at Olivet.
On Dec. 18, 2024, in Olivet, Michigan, The University of Olivet named Megan Dossey as their new head coach.
Dossey is a Olivet College alumna and a former member of the Swim and Dive
team where she was a four-year letter winner. She graduated from Olivet in 2016 with a
bachelor's degree in visual arts and a concentration in graphic design and ceramics.
Dossey’s goal for her team is to be “on track so that their taper is successful and that their
conference meet is successful.”
“I think she is a good coach, she got us all back on track for our training, which was not
easy to do. She brings energy to the team and has made a good impression so far as the head
coach,” said junior, Swim and Dive team member, Matthew Brown.
“Coach Dossey came in excited and passionate about coaching us and continuing our
program and it shows that she cares,” said senior, Swim and Dive team member, Mya Kinnunen.
“It shows she’s different because she’s thinking about the future of the swim team and what
goals she wants our team to achieve for the rest of this season, and seasons after this,” said Kinnunen.
With the MIAA Championships just around the corner, the team has their eyes set on
competing and representing Olivet.
“I hope to go some PRs at our conference meet in a couple weeks and really go out with a
bang and lead my teammates out with a good finish of the season,” said Kinnunen.
“I always want to beat my PRs. I want to get the best time I can at the end of the season. I
always want the best out of my training at the end of the year,” said Brown.
The Comets will be competing at the MIAA Championships at Calvin University from
Feb. 19-22.
