The University of Olivet staff and students are excited to celebrate Halloween today.
Today, Oct. 31, Joshua Gillespie and the Hiram Archer Student Success Academy (HASSA) will be hosting Trick ‘r Treat services on campus.
They will help set up around campus and pass out candy. This will happen between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Residents of Olivet are welcome to come by and get free candy.
There are also professors on campus who are dressing up today and passing out candy. After speaking with Emily Demski, a professor and first year success navigator, she said, “Some of your teachers and I will be dressing up around campus and passing out candy, so come by.”
After speaking with Freshmen, Lovelyn Ketevinpa, she shared her excitement for the holiday. “I mostly trick or treat and go to the parades,” she explained.
“When I was younger, I used to trick or treat at my aunt’s house.” She also enjoys eating Reese’s peanut butter cups and she won't dress up unless there’s a school event.
With more students participating in the on-campus events, a Junior, Violet Porter, will be helping to pass out candy around. She enjoys this holiday very much and loves fun activities.
“Me and my brothers usually go trick or treating then go to my aunt's house for the family parties. But this year I’ll be staying on-campus,” said Porter.
Porter is excited about passing out candy and enjoying the spooky time at UO.
