Olivet College Opens New Art Exhibit

Olivet College hosts “Fifty Years – 1971-2021” an art exhibit featuring the work of Class of 1971 alum Douglas K. Semivan and James Herbst, through Oct. 28 in the Kresge Foundation Art Gallery, inside the Riethmiller Blackman Art Building.

“The work in this exhibition references the development and evolution of a visual vocabulary,” said Semivan, a professor at a number of Michigan colleges and universities.

A reception will be held Saturday, Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m., during Homecoming weekend.

Herbst is a printmaker and has also developed a career in architectural painting.

“I was drawn to printmaking initially by the mystery of the process, “Herbst said.

For more information about the exhibit, contact Gary Wertheimer, professor of art, at 269-749-7627. The gallery is open, free, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
