OLIVET, MI – The Olivet College (OC) comets were given the chance to celebrate homecoming again during the weekend of Oct. 8-10. The entire weekend was put on hold for the 2020-21 school year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the return of homecoming weekend also came the football game and its tailgate.
Because of the lack of a game and tailgate last year, the OC community was very eager to get back to the homecoming festivities. The comets played Trine University on Saturday afternoon, and tailgating started not long after sunrise.
Because of the high priority of homecoming, OC went all out for this game’s tailgate. Within the field across the street from the football field, there were lines of cars filled with students, parents, and faculty all listening to music, playing yard games, and celebrating being together again.
Aside from student tailgates, OC also had a number of food trucks, an OC spirit wear tent, and a bounce house obstacle course. This great deal of entertainment was a great way to bring back the homecoming tailgate that the comets did not get to have last football season.
