As the semester gets closer to its end on April 29, students need to plan for next year and future semesters. One of the biggest worries for students is their ability to pay for their tuitions. According to the National Postsecondary Student Aid study, around 1.7 million are awarded each year. Olivet College offers some of its own scholarships, but there are also companies that students can apply to for assistance. Students looking online can find a variety lists and websites directing them to available scholarships, like scholarship.com or the U.S. Department of Labor scholarship finder. Here is a list of some upcoming scholarships available on the MyOlivet portal.
Olivet Donor Scholarships. These scholarships are for the 2021-2022 school year. There are 25 Donor Scholarships, each having their own requirements. For all scholarships, the applicant must be enrolled full time for the next school year, must have a 3.0 gpa or higher, no record with the judicial board, and must be willing to write a letter of application. The application is located on MyOlivet, under the Students tab and on the Scholarship Opportunities page. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 30, 2021 to Student Services.
WiseGeek’s Entrepreneurship Scholarship. A $500 scholarship for students considering starting their own business. The application is located on Wisegeek.com, under the Scholarship tab, or through MyOlivet. Applications are due by May 1, 2021.
Impact Scholarship for Black Students. A $2,500 scholarship for African American students. Students will be expected to write a 500 to 1000 word essay about their goals and plans for the future. Application link can be found on MyOlivet. Applications are due by May 11, 2021.
Injury Doctor Scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship for students planning to go into the medical field. Applicants must have a 3.0 gpa, must submit a transcript with their application, and must write a 500-word essay about their interest in medicine. Students can also submit letter of recommendation to supplement their application. The application is located online at injuredcalltoday.com, near the bottom of the home page. The link is also on MyOlivet. Applications are due by June 30, 2021.
Room 8 Studio’s Game Design Scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship for students looking at a career in the video game industry. Applicants must include a short bio about themselves, a concept and description for their game, and basic gameplay information. A more in-depth list is located at room8studio.com/scholarship/ or in the scholarship tab on MyOlivet. Applications are due by June 30, 2021.
Rustic Pathways Global Perspective Scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship, as well as two $250 runner-up scholarships. Rustic Pathways will also donate $1,000 to the school that recommended the winner. Students must fill out an online application and submit a short essay, under 500 words, about the global issue they wish to focus on. The application and essay prompt are both located on rusticpathways.com/students/scholarships. The link is also on MyOlivet. Applications must be submitted by Aug 1, 2021.
WiseGeek’s Disability Scholarship. A $500 scholarship for students with mental or physical disabilities. The application is located on Wisegeek.com, under the scholarship tab, or through MyOlivet. Applications are due Aug 2, 2021.
WiseGeek’s Immigrants Scholarship. A $500 scholarship for students who immigrated after Jan 1, 2010. The application is located on Wisegeek.com, under the scholarship tab, or through MyOlivet. Applications are due by Sept. 9, 2021.
