The sorority group, Iota Kappa Omicron, also known as the Soronian Society, recently held their first tea event of the 2024-2025 school year. They hosted the tea in their home for members of the sorority and for students at The University of Olivet to enjoy on Sept. 18.

Soronian Society is a sorority apart of Greek Life on Olivet's Campus. At the tea, guests were encouraged to dress to the theme, coastal cowgirl. This event was an introduction of the members of the sorority to The University of Olivet’s students.

According to Mya Kinnunen, a member of the sorority, tea parties are an opportunity to showcase the sorority house and attract potential pledges. She said, “We do the Teas just to get people to come to our house to see what they like about it, or if they are interested in pledging."

This event is considered a great start of the semester to build connections and make friends.

Another member, Jordan West, a sophomore, gave background history on the house and how this is a traditional event they do each year. She said, “You can expect to meet new girls and know more about the home and its background. We do introductions and then go on to play games and get to know one another.”

Coming to this event, and their other events in the future, you will not only build connections, but you will also learn more about the background of the sorority.
