On Dec. 20, 2024, in Olivet, Michigan, The University of Olivet decided to hire Erik Ieuter as their new head coach. Just a month prior, the Comets decided to “release” Dan Musielewicz as head coach. The Comets finished the 2024 season with a 3-7 record.

Ieuter comes from Muskingum College, where he spent 7 seasons as the head coach. He also has spent time at Adams State, Grand Valley State, Michigan Tech, and The University of Florida.

Ieuter is really excited to join Olivet because he’s ready to get "Olivet football back on top.”

Assistant Defensive Backs, coach Derek Williams, also joins Ieuter as a new member of the Comets coaching staff. “My motto, GATA, also are my goals for the year,” said Williams.

GATA stands for Grades, Attitude, Toughness, and Aggression, and Williams hopes to instill these values in his players.

“So far, with the new coaching staff, I love the energy and the grit that they have brought into this program. They are pushing our guys hard and getting up better day in and day out,” said Senior, Defensive lineman Dominico Tejeda. “I am confident in our guys' ability and hard will pay off come next season.”

“He’s a great guy. I think that our program needs someone who can hold us accountable and have a higher standard for what we do on and off the field,” said Freshman, Offensive Lineman Jelani Harbor about Coach Ieuter.
