WOCR Radio Shows: Spring 2025

Brayden Craig, Shae Lampinen, Jaeonna Shelton

This semester at The University of Olivet, our student-run Radio Station, WOCR at 89.1 FM, has a total of seven radio shows being created by seven different students. Each show has a specific goal and topic, depending on the creator of the show's interests. Here is a quick run-down of each radio show for the spring semester.

The second season of "Top Picks with Alisha" made by Alisha Ghan, freshman at The University of Olivet, shows us a new way to branch out with your music playlist every Wednesday at 6pm.

Ghan plays things like Hot 100, number one hits, she takes recommendations and plays new artists.

Sophomore, Calvin Green's radio show "Unknown", will be every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m..

In the show, Green plans on including music that people might not have heard of. He also plans to share new artists for people to experience different types of music. He also plans to include the production process that goes into making music in his show.

The show will have shout-outs to fans who listen, as well as quick trivia and throwback music that people may have forgotten about.

"Tune in with Stu and Ben" has a creative comeback for its last run at WOCR every Tuesday at 6 p.m.- 8p.m.

Stuart Donlan, a senior at The University of Olivet, replaces co- host Ben's human self with an AI version of him.

Donlan is excited and nervous for the show and is hoping to get more listeners and build his social media.

"Loc’s Top 10 Hits" is Stephen Moore's, sophomore, radio show that will be every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.

The show is about looking at the top ten hits on Apple Music so you never know what type of show you are going to get week to week, you might hear gospel, R&B, or hip-hop.

The show will include ranking other people's playlists. This will include fan interaction from Moore's YouTube channel LOCTV.

He plans to bring more fan comments to the show so every week is going to be a good one.

The WOCR Station Manager, Jack Webb, junior, is continuing his show "Jack's Classics" for this spring semester.

His show focuses on classical music where he likes to learn about the music he plays with his audience.

The show airs every Thursday at 6 p.m. and last about two hours.

His inspiration for the show comes from public radios where classical music is their primary music type.

Webb plans to continue his show next year as well and hopes to stay consistent and strives to have a high quality show for his listeners.

Along with Gahn, Green, Donlan, Moore, and Webb, there are two more shows to introduce.

The next show by Dalton Clark, freshman, will be hosting a radio show called Comet Jazz every Thursday from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. Clark wants to explore what makes jazz great, make observations, learn facts, and know jazz's impact.

Clark got the idea after he was at a jazz band concert. “Jazz is jazz, i like jazz, i play jazz, it’s jazz,” Clark said. From the show, expect various jazz artists and time periods, analysis of the instruments and the artist's life.

In Clark’s preparation for a show, it will take him about an hour per artist and a few hours per show.

Clark joined WOCR because he thought radio was cool and wanted to give it a shot, in hopes of gaining confidence and expanding his horizon.

In the future he expects to have growth with the show and wants each show to be better than the last one.

The last radio show to feature for the semester is by Joshua Moore, sophomore, who will be hosting a show called Draft Season on Fridays at 2:30. The show is about the upcoming NFL (National Football League) draft and the events before the draft.

“I'm a little nervous, I'm not great at talking in front of an audience, but I'm looking forward to the show because I get to talk about something I care about,” Moore said.

In the show expect current events happening in the NFL. For example the NFL combine, the senior bowl, pro days, expert mock drafts, player development, prospect breakdown, thoughts on team outfits, and opinions on each player.

By the end of the semester he wants to see improvement. Clark is unsure if the show will continue after this semester because by then the draft season will be over.
